Default Edit Fun-OOB-Cowdog

This has been a real challenge for me-I use NX2 so not use to layers. I downloaded Gimp-watched some Photoshop videos and then tried to apply to Gimp. Gotta figure out the perspective tool yet.-but this is what I come up with for my first try at layers and OOB. Didnt like the cow in space- so made it a box also.

I dont know why but OOBs give me a chuckle. The dog leaping out is really hillarious. While I appreciate the work done here, there is something wrong with the story as I see it. The shapes of the calves box doesnt lend itself to the position of the dog. The OOBs work, the story doesnt. Maybe if there was an object between them that they were both going after it might make sense to me.

I'm not sure I see the problem Bynx is seeing. I like the fact that you added a box for the cow, otherwise, you are right, he would look like he was floating.
Would love to see a second attempt now that you have the process down.

Thanks Bynx for the suggestions but I dont quite understand what/how to do different to make story plainer. The cow is trying to turn away from the herd, the dog goes in to turn it, the cow challenges the dog and dog goes in closer with teeth to enforce the turn...so they are going after each other...I do this all the time, so story is plain to me. Here is the original-if you can tell me better what to do Bynx-I'd appreciate the help ..maybe make box taller on the dog?-new at this... trying to learn.
