Default Silhouettes - The Williamsburg Bridge

Took this about eight years ago with my trusty (and long stolen) Olympus 520. A two meg camera. Prints just fine at 16x20 (with a little interpolation help).

I think if you had cropped out the right 2/3 of the shot, focusing on the bridge, it would be more efective...especially as a silhouette. Nice sky.

Nice silhouette of brooklyn from the outer roadway of the WillyB. The sky is very fiery. I like it.

I would disagree with the cropping the right 2/3 as you would have lost the impact of the sky and the sunrise. Which may change the whole aspect of the shot, if the sky was one of the features you were looking to capture.

Thanks guys!

The motivation for the shot was the sky. The Bridge "balences" the sky and provides a reference. Maybe once or twice a year do I see such a sky. Taking this photograph while driving presented a wee bit of a challenge...

The reason for my cropping suggestion is that the reflections on the lower-right take away from an otherwise good composition. The bridge could stand on its own...no pun intended.

Walter is right. The emphasis should be on the silhouette, not the sunset or that goreous sky.

I can see what you are saying walter. When I first saw the picture, I came to the same conclusion as Chato. The sky was what drew me to the photo, and the bridge was an afterthought.

I'd like to think of this as a twofer. With Walter's suggested crop the bridge definitely becomes the center of focus. With the the full sky the sunset takes on a more prominent role.
I'd go for the crop personally in this case. since the silhouette of the bridge is quite striking.
