Default Things with Wings- A rare sight

Here are two birds you don't see in the sky together much any more.

A P-51 Mustang and a B-17 Flying Fortress. Taken at a local air show.

A closer shot of the B-17 flying over.

Those birds have really been meticulosly refurbished. They must have polished every rivets.
Aloha and thanks for sharing.

Great shots. The first didn't look real at first. I guess it's because, as Selvin stated, the planes are so shiny.

Thanks guys. Yes, both birds have undergone extensive restoration. The P-51 has the backing of "Jelly-Belly" jelly beans and the B-17 has been loving restored by group of loyal aviation folks and yes that thing really did shine in the mid day sun.

Now I just love Jelly Belly so I will have to go out and buy a big bag in support. Glad to see the money is going to some good.
Really nice shots considering they are real. The first shot does look like a couple of RC controlled planes.

Well captured, Steve

Some truly magnificent 'old birds' of the sky there.

The exposure is also very good on these photos... well done.

I particularly like the B-17 fly over shot.

Jelly Belly... I haven't had some of those in a long time... maybe worth a purchase again.

I like the shots - well done, detailed, very clear. In #2 the special "full metal" feeling is great!

Thanks for sharing,
Th.

Thanks all.
Bynx,
I think the reason the first picture looks like two RC planes (and I build and fly RC aircraft) is the perspective. The P-51 was much closer in that shot and therefore appears larger than it ought to compared to the B-17. I think this is causing the illusion.

Thanks again everyone for all the nice comments.

Cheers, Steve

Thanks for looking and you comment.

If you look closely at the fuselage you can make out the reflected horizon between the sky and the dry grassy land below.... NOW THAT is a polished surface.
