Default Geometry in composition: Arcs

Both were taken during my vacations in Ikaria island. The second is a bit out of focus but I put it there for the curves.

Wow,
The first shot looks really 3-D on my screen. Good example of the use of curves and framing (not part of the challenge).

You are right. I have checked some more arc photos on the net and I believe I totally misunderstood the concept.

sakisf,

I really like photo 1. The 3 D effect of the lower left 'fading' into the left receding wall of the hole in the rock is very interesting.

2nd photo of the shell is a little 'lost' due to lack of sharpness, imho - but still a good try never-the-less.

I'd like some clarification on this (mods?!)

Selvin, were you referring to the 'framing' not being part of the challenge, or rather that the composition doesn't actually meet the challenge? I've read the photoinf/golden mean link, and I would have thought that sakisf's post meets the 'arcs' criteria.

Not meaning to hijack this thread at all, but I posted a thread (Geometry in composition - snail) 3 days ago (that has currently had 80 views) - and not one comment. I thought it meets the challenge. But maybe not?

If that shell could talk! I would love to know where it's been. Very nice against the white background.

Folks,

I was actually NOT criticizing the post as not meeting the challenge. My intention was to point out that the great framing although not a challenge requirement was very well done. The curves (arcs) were great and met the challenge. Yes an arc is a part of a curve.
