Default A stitch in time - storm

We had a thunder storm the other day here in Adelaide, which included lightning. Very rare to get such storms here, let alone in December (our summer here in Australia!) A record amount of rain fell for 1 day in December across parts of the city.

I set up my tripod at my front window and captured a few lightning shots. I think it works well for this challenge, showing the dramatic change in 'scenery' in just a relatively short amount of time.

Regards

Paul

#1 - lightning from the left

#2 - lightning from the right

#3 - lightning everywhere!

#4 - (hope the mods will let me post 4 photos) just to show what it was like without lightning bursting across the sky.... without any lightning in view

Neat series! I love lightning shots - such storms are so rare around where I live that I've never managed to get one shot, let alone 3!

Good ones. I have never been able to get lightning. It is rare where i live and then when it comes, my timing is always off.

Thanks all for your kind comments. Your feedback is very much appreciated.

I also hope you all had a wonderful Christmas.

I found it interesting to read that a number of you also said lightning is rare where you are... I guess I thought where I currently live (Adelaide, Australia) is rare, and that many parts of the US get storms in the summer. I realise the US, lik Australia is also a large country and has a variety of climatic zones. But I've not been to the US.

London (UK) seemed to get more lightning there than here (from memory). Romania (where I lived for several years after living in the UK) definitely had the most storms of any 'long term' place I've lived at.

When I was visting Thailand in May 2010, it was the very start of the wet season - had a few storms (but I did not capture any lightning). Most days were lovely and clear actually.

Cheers all. I'm glad that I took the time and trouble to capture the lightning and could share with you; who knows when it will occur again here?

Regards

Paul
