I have been moving toward an aesthetic that depricates the intrusion of the photographer in the photo. I have always disliked Kodachrome-type cartoon saturation of colors, and am mostly unhappy with HDR, which also draws more attention to the photographer than to the photograph. For the most part, I don't like the effect of unusual angles in a photograph for the same reason. In short, the photos that I most admire seem like snapshots that just happened to turn out well. The focus is on the art, and not the artifice. If it works, it looks like something that anyone could have done -- but that reaches everyone who looks at it in a way that communicates something specific yet universal. I don't know whether that is intelligible or not, but the following is an example that I find reasonably successful in this regard.
