Default Pedestrian Activity - Sand

I took this picture in January, it seems very appropriate for this topic. It's one of my favorite pictures for this year.

Most unusual. What are we looking at here, Mtngal? Nice composition.

I'm a bit surprised you find it unusual, Walter, it was taken only a few hours drive downhill from your sea level location. It's the sand dunes near Stovepipe Wells, Death Valley.

Great composition & wonderful timing with the person in the shot just where she is.

It brings back many childhood memories, especially with the footprints as they are in the steep dune slope. Every January when I grew up my family would go to St Helens in Tasmania, Australia - which has some great dune areas.

Thanks mtngal. Exposure is also very good.

Thanks for the compliments! These sand dunes aren't extensive and only a couple of them are fairly tall (I didn't walk that far, perhaps next trip). I suspect that these dunes are small compared to yours in Tasmania. They certainly cover a much smaller area. But they are pretty and it's interesting to see the steep sides and how they are shaped and changed by the wind.

mtngal,

Love the geometric composition. The hiker's presence is really emphasized by this composition.
