Default Passages - Ice, Water, Time

This scene was created by the passage of glacial ice centuries ago, and continues to be shaped by the passage of water over time.

Those layers are really eye catching. The waterfall is a truly unexpected surprise.
Wonderful panorama.

What a grand, rugged vista towering over the pines you have captured. Makes one realise how small and transient we are in the scheme of things.

What a beautiful vista! Are you fortunate enough to live nearby?

We live about a 4 hour drive from Yosemite Valley, too long for a day trip but do-able for an overnight. I prefer visiting over a 3 day weekend at the least - I never tire of seeing it. The falls are outstanding right now - lots of snow run-off so they are very full (this picture was taken Saturday afternoon).

Great choice and interpretation. I hope to possibly visit Yosemite later this year.

Cal - The first time I took my husband to Yosemite was in the fall. I had been there twice before that as an adult in spring and remembered how awesome the waterfalls were. We went in autumn, and Yosemite Falls were dry! Here I had raved about how beautiful they were and it was so anti-climatic. Of course, he enjoyed Yosemite anyway because there's so much more to see than just the falls. I hope your trip goes well, and that you'll have enough time to hike a bit, to get away from all the crowds that flock to the valley in summer (while its difficult to find complete solitude without backpacking, you don't have to go very far on foot to leave most of the crowd behind).

Thanks! It was a handheld 2 shot panorama stitched with CS4 and using a lens I just got. I was very pleased with how it came out.
