Default Polarizers - A paint

Photographing paintings, particularly oil on canvas, can be tricky without a cpl. In fact, two lights with polarizing gels placed at 30 should be needed also, but i hadn't the gels, so...

Without a polarizer (and a p&s).

With a cpl (and a dslr).

Amazing how it brings out the details. I had never heard of using polarization in this way. I think I am going to learn some things from my own challenge!

Wow... great application of the challenge, Ordo.

Beautiful painting too (I'm not usually one for 'still life' or 'portrait' paintings, but this one I like!)

Beaut colours and details.

And Cal... it's so great to see such a knowledgable guy like you, so humble & learning.

I would never have thought of using a polarizer for something like this, but it does make quite a difference. Makes sense - it cuts down on the reflected light. Great tip!

I had heard of the effect but never thought the results would be so dramatic. Good job and thanks for the lesson.
