#2 - oops! this one is missing - will try to restore it!

Can you hear yourself think??

Certain sign of summer ... and usually of stinking hot weather!

A Disney song comes to mind -- "The Ugly Bug Ball". These are excellent photo of an ugly bug!

Great close ups Bernice. Never seen a frontal of a cicada before.

Well ---- look at that! Don't know what happened there, but that's the whole cicada that belongs to the head-on shot.

Thanks for your comments.

Wow, excellent detail, Bernice! I've never seen one like #2. And you right, nothing else sounds more like summer than these guys "singing"!!

They certainly let you know they're around! Hot night, favourite show on TV door shut and sweltering because the noise drowns everything out!
thanks for the comments saly.

Excellent close-ups, but that's one ugly bug! Not sure I'd want to see that much detail myself. Bugs of any sort seem to mean summer to me.

Thanks for the comment mtngal. I agree, not the prettiest little thing, and with some dreadful habits including but not limited to the decibel levels!

Cheers
