Default Signs of Summer - Drought

Southeastern NC is in a severe drought this year. There are several large brush fires burning in the area. While not the fun part of this area in the summer, I thought these would be very in the moment.

Fire season, definitely a sign of summer. That last one is too scary - I'd sure wouldn't be standing as close as those two guys are.

DivMedic4,

I agree with MtnGal those folks look like they're mighty close to those flames. However I suppose the telephoto lens has something to do with the illusion.

When I looked at the ditch in the fist photo I thought it looked like one of those canals in South Florida that have been suffering drought conditions.

Very informative photos.

Thank you for the comments MtnGal and Selvin. The people were in the fire shot were from the forestry division trying to figure out how to attack it while the downed power lines were still live. I think they were about 15 feet back.

The "ditch" is actually a retention pond that is normally about 3-4 feet deep. I think it is the same principle as the canals in South Florida.
