1st photo is a classic golden hour shot (though I've not been to San Fran.. it's interesting to see it). I'm guessing this is the sinking sun? (sinking over the west / ocean lighting up the city?)

2nd photo not as powerful imho - but still nice. My eye is drawn to quite noticeable jpeg artifacts (not sure if it's the jpg compression, photo size on my monitor, this website/forums or something else).

Thanks for sharing.

Hi pj1974,

Thanks for your comments. Greatly appreciate it.

Yes, you are absolutely right on 1st photo. They both were pure jpeg at 5MP and forums compressed. I also cropped a bit at the bottom part had some unwanted and a bit of photo shop for color.

Jeff

The second shot is so appealing especially after the edit.

That first shot is a perfect example of Golden Hour photography!

I too like the clarity of the top photo better, but the golden hour is so much more evident in the second photo. With that said, the crop job you did on photo #2 makes an ordinary picture into an awesome picture! After seeing your shots, I checked the App Store and ended up buying an app (GoldenPic) for finding the Golden Hour. If I take anything near that good, I'll post.
