Both of these guys have seen better days. I call this Desert Casualties.

Cheers,

Thanks Jeannie Bug.. it was rejected from the last photography contest for which it was entered. I kind of like it artistically. Not sure it is a "hand in the family room" kind of shot. It was not meant to be.

Well... Before I moved in with my sweetie, all of the art hanging on my living room walls, were my photographs - nearly all of which were black and white - and most of which were my children (single mom and that!)

I really like photos of decay. My style of decor is "industrial" with a lot of metal and glass (with some stone and some wood thrown in for variety). So, this is certainly something that I would have hung in the family room!

Now that I've blended household furnishings with another person, I might not purchase a photo like that to hang on the family room wall. But, if it was MY photo, then you betcha!

A sad picture, one that's quite emotional and has impact. I can perhaps see why a contest (depending on the categories) might reject it, the poor wild horse carcass wouldn't be a usual photo subject. Not that the picture isn't good, it is. And it seems to be appropriate for a summer heat type of topic (deserts can be a fatal trap). P.S. I like pictures of bare or burned trees, which I don't think anyone else does - so what do I know about taste?

Suggests another "get rich quick" scheme went awry there in the desert. Nice.

Thanks everyone.
This is an old water well drilling rig. It has a wooden trailer and derrick - something I had never seen before. I work with drilling equipment like this but more modern. What you cannot see behind me is a watering hole apparently drilled for the cattle with that drill rig.

The theme to the photo contest was "Inspiration or Desperation" I thought this would qualify for "Desperation" but what do I know. *S*

One day when I am famous and they want me in their contests I am going to remind them of the snub! *LOL* Oh, but in a gracious way, of course.
