Great opportunist shots Paul. I like them both for different reasons. The first for the better body and wing outline, the second for the full V.

Many times I saw pelicans flying in a single line formation during the years I spent surfing and sailing in Southern California. Never saw them in a V. Figured that was because when the directions of their travel, the wind and the swell are right a line of pelicans will descend to inches above the water and glide in the air moving up the face of the swell. Couldn't do that in a V.
