Default Photo Within a Photo - Then and Now

I dunno if this pic meets the exact definition of the challenge, but here it is anyway. I've always liked then-and-now photos, combining them in one 'photo within a photo' makes the comparison easier and more fun.

I overlaid a 1958 pic of me on a trike in front of the Sally Ann at the corner of 117 Ave and 95 St in Edmonton AB onto a Google Streetview screenshot of the same location as it is now. It's amazing how much of this neighborhood is still pretty well the way I remember it back then, even the old trolley lines are still there.

A perfect submission for this challenge! Were you ever involved with The Salvation Army there, which I understand is more of a church than in the USA? My parents and grandparents were SA officers.

Thank you, Walter. No, we were never involved with the SA, we just happened to live a couple of blocks away. I'm not a religious person by any stretch, but I have to admit to a fair degree of respect and even admiration for the SA for the way they give back to their communities. There was an apartment fire in town not long ago that resulted in 60 or so people becoming homeless and the SA was first in line to help as they always seem to be. I donate to them regularly.

I'm glad you chose to show the whole building in both photos. The tricycle and cars show us the time difference, but the building has remained the same.

Nice to see that some things remain pretty much the same over the years!

Very cool, and yeah, the building hasn't changed at all in 50+ years!! I like your idea of using Google Street for this!

Toshi,
Pretty clever using Goggle streets.
Nice juxtaposition.
