Default Smiles- Momma Raccoon

I have seen this family of raccoons off and on over the last month or so at the refuge. Today was an extraordinary day in that I came across not only these five raccoons but a Great Blue Heron, an Egret, an American Bittern ( that was rooted out by one of the raccoon cubs) and a river otter. All in the same location and at the same time. Amazing!

Here is the Momma Raccoon taking a break from the kids on the other side of the canal. As I fired off these shots she looked up at me and flashed me this smile.
Ok, she was actually eating a fish, but I like my version better.

Ooops! I forgot to make a second post for the last two pictures.... apologies. Steve

Hmmm. I wouldn't consider that a smile, but a bare teeth warning. Love the "bandit" face of those animals. Sounds like you had a great day of shooting.

Yep, I agree shot#2 looks a tad menacing. #1 could pass for a smirkey smile.
Nice wildlife shots.

I was thinking the same thing. That looks more like a show of anger. In any case, great photos.

"Never smile at a cro....." oh, that's a crocodile, isn't it! Looks like the same applies to raccoons ..........

Cheers
