Default Food: Hawaiian Style Lunch

Located in the town of Waimea on the Big Island of Hawaii is a very popular local restaurant that serves hawaiian style lunches one day of the week only. Pictured below is the whole platter:
Top upper left is poi (finely ground boiled taro), Middle top row Kalua pig (smoked pork seasoned with local Hawaiian salt) Right top row, Laulau (pork and salted butterfish wrapped in a layer of taro leaves and steamed for a long time), front left Lomilomi salmon (lomi means massage, bits of salted salmon mixed with green onions and diced tomatoes gently mixed by hand), right front chicken long rice (chunks of chicken cooked in a broth with rice noodlesand green onions). Many of these dishes harken back to the traditional foods eaten by the plantation workers and native Hawaiians.

All that food! Everything looks appetizing to me, well, with the exception of the poi. I've tasted it before, and let me put it this way, you're a better man than me! lol

Wow Selvin - real poi (looks like one finger poi), not the watered down stuff you get these days!

I'm afraid my stomach is not that adventurous anymore.

Hawgwild,
I competely agree with your assessment of poi. I do not eat it. That's my son in the lic and he likes it with his Hawaiian grinds.
Paniolo,
Hawaiian Style Cafe in Waimea does a fairly decent job of making the real thing.
Vsch1,
You're right it's very colorful and except for the poi is quite tasty.
Walter,
Yes, you have to be a tad adventuresome to eat some of this stuff.

Folks thanks for your comments.

Interesting combo plate. I personally won't eat any raw meat, including fish. Technically speaking, the image looks a bit OOF. Perhaps the DoF was a bit too shallow.

On my last visit to Hawaii, I went to a luau on Maui. I passed on the poi although I think my wife tried it. I had Kahlua pork and it was delicious. As for the other items, they look delicious. I'm not sure if I sample some of these at the luau or not.

Tullio,
You're correct, the DOF was very narrow probably in part due to the fact flash was not used consequently the lens was wide open thereby tending to reduce DOF.

You mak'n me hungry brah!

We also have an old photo (print) we took at the Hawaiian Style Cafe in Waimea (is it still there?) where my son who was around 8 at the time ordered a cheeseburger. The waitress said as she was walking away "just wanna warn you, our burgers are 1 lb". It didn't quite register until the burger came out, but it was delicious and he put a huge dent in it.
