I like the idea of the machined part, can't think what I was looking at a while go that had those types of marks. I was fascinated by the design. When I first looked at the second one I thought I was looking at a wood carving - until I looked at the third one and realized what I was looking at. Very interesting.

Agree very wooden. Amazing how rust can look so much like wood.

Interesting shots. What is the first object? Also the chain looks like its still being used, so whats it attached to? That rust texture is awesome.

I saw this chain in another photo. It was a fence beside the water around the Golden Gate bridge. There couldnt be two like this with the exact same rust formation. Its pretty unique looking.

My gut feeling is that the item in the first photo is something I'm familiar with but I can't place it! Help me out, please.

The first item is a machined part for minibikes (I believe). I have a friend that has a high tech machine shop;. Here is a larger photo of those parts. These were the first shots I took with my D700.

Bynxs... good memory. This is a chain around the sea wall at Fort Point beneath the Golden Gate Bridge.

Like others have noted, the rust shots are remarkable in how they provide another dimension for perceiving rust. I wont be looking at rust the same way again.
