Default New Challange Dec. 18-Jan. 1 -- Holiday Activities and Thoughts

It is the Holiday season again. The hustle and bustle of the season is all around us. There are several religious celebrations this time of year including the Christian Christmas, Jewish Hanuka (or Chanukah), African-American Kwanza.

In this challenge, you may show holiday activities (secular or religious) or photos reflecting your thoughts during this season.

This is one prohibition with this challenge: Do not show any photos on the subject of Armageddon, Doomsday, or any of the December 21st predictions. You can see any/all of this on your favorite cable tv channel. Those guys are getting rich on this topic!

Please put Holiday Activities in your subject line. This makes it much easier to search the forum for a particular topic in the future. I don't know how many postings exist in this forum but there are over 500 pages!

Enjoy your holiday activities in your own way and share some of them with us.

I am not familiar with that one. Can you briefly tell who and what that is about?

Festivus is celebrated each year on December 23rd. However many people celebrate it other times in December and even at other times throughout the year. The slogan of Festivus is "A Festivus for the rest of us!" The usual holiday tradition of a tree is manifested in an unadorned aluminum pole, which is in direct contrast to normal holiday materialism. Those attending Festivus may also participate in the "Airing of the Grievances" which is an opportunity to tell others how they have disappointed you in the past year, followed by a Festivus dinner, and then completed by the "Feats of Strength" where the head of the household must be pinned.

Default Festivus

Cal,

Bynx is referring to a holiday that way made famous on an episode of the Jerry Seinfeld show. Originally probably made up toungue in cheek it gained quite bit of following after the episode was aired.
It was a response to the fact that all of the organized religious and secular groups had their own festivals so this one "Festivus" was for those didn't and did not want to be part of the whole Xmas scene.

I believe for those using the default forum skin (white), Bynx post cannot be read unless we highlight it.

Since this is a photo site, the best way to see the photos is with the black background. Who would be using the white one????
