Default Winter - At the House

One of the few pictures I've taken in the past month, but it seems appropriate for this topic.

Most people think of Southern California as all palm trees and beaches, along with lots of urban areas. But there's other parts of the area and they can be quite different. This was taken a week ago, when I rather unexpectedly left work early, to make sure I could get home. This grapevine is growing on the railing of my front porch.

It was a good thing I left work early - they closed the interstate around 4 and if I hadn't left early I wouldn't have gotten home at all.

Looks almost cold enough to produce Ice Wine.
The chill in the air really shows in this shot.

Thanks for the comments. There's little snow left, it's mostly melted where I am. There's still snow/ice higher up, but I'm just not enthusiastic enough about it to go snowshoeing right now. Maybe next weekend if there's anything left.

It always does amaze me that I can drive an hour and be wearing shirt sleeves, when it was well below freezing when I left the house. But such is life in the SoCal mountains.
