Default WINTER- Hibernating Butterflies

These are Monarch butterflies hibernating until the end of Feb. Some have wakened and they are in full color.

I never thought butterflies would live long enough to hibernate...very interesting.

I thought the same thing as Tulio. I thought butterflies only lived 2-3 days after emerging from the cocoon or chrysalis.

This is an amazing shot. Great catch.

I didn't know they discolored when they hibernated.

That's a learning experience. I think the white may be the underside of the wings.
