cold and empty is the feeling the sky and distant trees covered in snow gives me, I kinda like the vastness of it though. I'll quote Robert Frost as his farm is but a few miles as the crow flies from where this was shot.

Selvin, that is my favorite from Frost but this shot invoked the lines

"It lifts existence on a plane of snow
One level higher than the earth below,
One level nearer heaven overhead,"


and

"It lifts a gaunt luxuriating beast
Where he can stretch and hold his highest feat

What well may prove the year's high girdle mark."

the luxuriating beast is the vast expanse of the snow, the blanket on the field and on the trees soft and cold

I really love the look of a freshly fallen snow draping the trees in a forest.
