Default Panorama - Bixby Bridge, Big Sur, CA

As a fan of Jack Kerouac I had to shoot Bixby Bridge during a trip (bridge also in the movie "Play Misty for Me" and other films). Multi shot pano (shots taken in vertical format, then stitched together).

I think I've been on that bridge. Is there a road that goes under it, leading to the beach? Also, is there a light house just to the north of this location?

Beautiful shot.

Thanks for the look and comments vsch1 and calr.

vsch1 - I took the shots from a gravelly area near the drop-off and was very aware of the possibility of sliding off.

calr - there are a couple of very similar bridges in the area. There is a dirt road leading up the valley that was the main road before the bridge was built (I also have shots from the valley). Jack Kerouac lived in this area when writing his book "Big Sur". The Point Sur lighthouse is south of Bixby Bridge. If you drove the coast, you would have passed over this bridge.

Nice. I have one from the other side looking back this was from the little point sticking up between the road and the water/cliff.

Found the ocean colours in the lower left interesting. I thought they may be an artifact of the stitching.
Breathtaking view.

Default Pano

Thanks for the comments.

Bill, I really like your pano. I should have looked at that side of the bridge as the lighting on my shot was very harsh.

selvin, I went back to see the original shots - looked like the color difference was the result of washout from the creek. A single shot of the area.

Paniolo,

Reminds me very much of the varieties of color in the ocean after sugar has been washed after harvesting. However in that case the color changes are shades of brown mixed with cerulean blue.

Very pretty picture of a lovely area. I really like how the pano came out. This has got to be one of the most spectacular drives in California.
