Default Signage-From a Student Viewpoint!

This sign dates to the early 1950's and sits on a state highway near my home in central Kansas. The limestone slab was placed near an intersection with a county road to point the way to a nearby rock quarry. The rock quarry sign was placed on top of the very large rock. A rural one room school was located at the same intersection. One morning an unknown miscreant had painted on the rock this advice for passing motorists. Our local newspaper ran a photo and story speculating on the identity of the prankster. This was then picked up by the Associated Press and ran in newspapers worldwide. The school and rock quarry closed a few years after this incident. Eventually the school was acquired by the local historical society and is maintained as a learning tool for today's schoolchildren. They cleared the heavy overgrowth from around the sign and carefully repainted over the still faintly visible original writing. A new middle school has been built near this intersection so it gets a lot of chuckles from those traveling to and from there each day. The original prankster(s) may well still live in this area but have never been identified.

My question is whether you wait to give the teacher an opportunity......

I'm sure many children have had the same thought through the years.
