Default Signage - Out of Warranty

My 20 month old car is no longer under warranty, I guess any maintenance issues are now on my nickel.

Those are miles, not km.

Car sales people just don't understand when they tell me they offer a 5 (or 7) year/100,000 mile warranty and my answer is that's nice - that'll last about 2 years. They always try to point out that it's good for more years than 2. Some day I'm going to ask them if they would write an extended warranty that would be 5 years or 100,000 miles - whichever comes LAST. Would I ever come out on the right side of that! I hope to get another 200,000 miles (and over 3 years more) out of it. This Prius has been the best car I've ever owned.

That's a lot of miles in 20 months, you must love driving.

I have an '05 Prius with less than 90K miles. Never had a problem with it and averages 42-45 MPG, 50+ on long trips. Don't plan on replacing it anytime soon.

I don't know how much I like driving, it's just that I live in a location where it's 35 miles to anywhere. And it's 75 miles (one way) to work. And its 300 miles (one way) to where I have family that I visit once a month, at least. And I like to travel - there was the trip to Colorado last spring, Flagstaff in December, Laramie this spring, and numerous short day or weekend trips somewhere (Yosemite, San Diego, closer beaches, etc.). Plus it was a mild winter so the roads only required 4x4 a couple of days.

Saly - the last vehicle I owned that was more than 10 years old was a beat-up old Chevy 3/4 ton pick-up. Used it to haul horses - you hooked up the horse trailer and then checked the oil level every time you stopped (and often added a quart). It just ran and ran, some maintenance but it got the job done. Didn't look very pretty but that was fine for a farm truck.

Walter - my overall average for 100,000 miles is just over 50 mpg. Love it!

Here I was complaining about putting 24K a year on my car. On the other end of the scale my mom's car a 2005 Honda just hit 15k, it still has a new car smell.
