everything is so crisp and practically just popping out of the monitor. did you delete the background in post production? ops: no pun intended on this post ops: did it again

Nice picture!
One thing I do have to say is that it really looks like you need to clean off your cmos in your 10D! There is a lot of dust apparent in your picture. Check this out: http://www.pbase.com/copperhill/ccd_cleaning

PK, thats just a very shallow DOF, no post processing required.
Gandalf, It was snowing very hard that today and I wonder if that is some of what you are seeing? There may have been some dust on the sensor but I doubt that it was very much.Most of that is snow and by-products of a high ISO.

That is one very beautiful photo! To have managed to differentiate between the snow on the post and the snow in the background was a feat of snow small proportions. (I think I hate myself.)

Besides meeting the challenge of white-on-white, you did everything else right too. The composition is outstanding.
