Nice shots!

I wonder what that stanchion with the bent bolt is for. Some kind of diving board or umbrella add-on for otters (if that's what they are)?

Yep, these are otters.

The "stanchion" is a stem to a gate valve, with the wheel removed. This is a part of a series of ponds that were once used for rearing steelhead trout.
