Default Breaking Things - I think, anyway

I was absolutely sure I'd broken the Rule of Thirds with this photo, but then I put in the grid, and now I'm not so sure. It's tough looking at your own photos and analyzing them. So, have I broken stuff or not?

It's almost if you can see the story behind it!

Thanks, Melanie! That's what was confusing the issue for me--the possibility of a little story in it. Also, I tried to arrange the boots and shoes so they were directly opposite each other, creating a back-and-forth tension across the space between them, but now I'm wondering if the slant of that space and the positioning of the shoes altered my original idea.

I think it fits neatly within the boundaries of the rule of thirds, made even more obvious by your grid overlay. Had they been toe to toe in an even array, perhaps it would be different. See, you just have the rule too ingrained in your brain

Well, shoot (so to speak). I'm just going to have to try again. You're right about that darned rule being a part of my brainscape. It's been there since my first art class, which was way back in... Nevermind.

This will our your photography progress.

This is precisely, Klaus, why I put up this challenge, and here I am trying to battle my way out of the rules. Can't even meet my own challenge.
