Default The Letter A: Titan Arum (Amorphophallus titanum)

This specimen belongs to the "A"rum family and is noted for the stench that it exudes when it flowers - likened to rotten flesh. Specimens can be found in several botanical gardens throughout the world. Originally from Sumatra it has the largest unbranched inflorescence in the world. Thousands form lines to view these. This specimen was at the Foster Botanical Garden in Honolulu.

Selvin,

There is one of these in a garden over in Berkeley. It makes the news when ever it blooms and people line up to see it.
