Bill, I thought about this challenge for several days before posting it. It offers numerous opportunities for creative thinking and thinking outside the box. That is one of the objectives of this forum.

Having said that, I like both of your photos but I am curious about the dome shaped object in the mud pit. Is that a bubble in the process of bursting? If so, your timing was outstanding. If not, I have no idea what it it.

The mud bubble is perfect. I'm afraid all of us out here will have an opportunity to take similar pictures to your second one this year.

In the first mud bubble, the counterpoints of deep blacks and sparkle-white highlights really sets off the grey. That mud bubble is creepy. Reminds me of low budget 1950s Sci Fi movies.
