Looks like you were first to walk there after the snow. Lovely view.

No snow shoes on this trip, there was only 4 -6 inches of snow on the ground, though we did don our micro spikes when we climbed the ridge. We did see a group carrying their snow shoes on our way back to the car, they said they were going to wear them when they reached the ridge since they carried them so far. (It is only a 2.5 mile hike up to this point. We do wear them when the snow is deep and soft enough.

Nothing more fun than fresh snow! Looks like a nice hike.

What are your micro spikes? I sometimes wear snowshoes because of icy trails and my snowshoes have metal grips on the bottom. But often it's not soft enough for shoes and I'd rather use something else if I could find something that would work with my winter boots.

Here is a link to REI for microspikes.

Kahtoola MICROspikes

I think they are better than yaktrax since they have small 1/4 inch spikes.
