Magnificent photo, but I'm not sure how it relates to "evidence."

I absolutely love the picture, but....

I'm not trying to make waves, I'm just not sure how this follows the topic. Hopefully someone will clue me in.

Definitely a nice photo, but like Normcar, I'm wondering what it's evidence of.

That people once wore steering wheels as bracelet charms?

The title is the clue...”Once upon a time” and then it is left up to the viewer to draw their own conclusion.

Once upon a time his people roamed the lands…what is left of that culture and romanticized period in time? His people were proud and “one” with the land.

Notice the wide-open sky, the evergreen behind him and especially the prairie land to the right; see that it is about the same color as the frozen in time Native American, coincidence?

Or…

why is he still as stone? Is he hunting, calling in an eagle or maybe seeking guidance from the spirit world or is it that small stretch of black hard surface his horse refuses to cross?

Yes, maybe he is investigating this clue, this evidence that the world is changing before his eyes, for whatever could turn the golden earth into a narrow stretch of smooth blackened rock and where does this path lead too?

Now I understand, PKchopper. You probably lost several of us because you're using a symbol of an idea to symbolize an idea.

I made two mistakes:
1) Not considering the title
2) Not looking closely enough at available subject matter.

For one, I didn't even see at first that this was a Native American. I thought it was an immigrant. How I missed the feather and head-dress I don't know.

Your explanation opened up magnificent vistas of "evidence" related things and helped me to appreciate this work even more. I knew that I liked it but it's now clearer to me exactly why I liked it and that something deeply spiritual was being nudged.

I now see this native locked inside this rock prison, a slight look of frustration and anger as he gazes out at me, holding the feather as a gesture that says, "I flew freely with eagles once, long ago, before your black-top snakes began to seal me up in this rock."

Indeed that bold and bitter evidence that I couldn't see now shines forth almost bringing me to tears.

Great post!
