What I find amazing is the way the roiling flow of clouds so closely mimics the "waves" flowing through the ground! Truly a mystical shot, and yes, the B/W version is a great depiction.
Congratulations.

PS (where do I sign up for the backpack tour  )

Digcamfan, I think that is just an awesome shot. I love the colored version, but you somehow made the b&w conversion equally as beautiful. Who is Ansel Adams? Does he have a cousin It?

wow! both shots are utterly amazing, and I can't wait until I replace my car with a more reliable one, so I can get some pics of the natural beauty of my neck of northern california. how did you get the original so saturated with color, so I can steal the teqnique when I do?

Here's one of many places to see Adams' work:

http://www.archives.gov/exhibit_hall...rt_adams.html#

A few years ago, my husband and I were out hitting the garage sales. We found a huge, spiral-bound book filled with nothing but photos from Adams' series on the national parks. The people wanted 50 cents for it and we took it. When we got home, we discovered that Adams had autographed it.
