Like the last photo of yours I visited, this is one that actually improves by being in b&w--to my eye, anyway. This is just a personal taste issue, so don't take it as some grandly important fact: I've grown tired of sunsets. I love looking at them in real life, but maybe because of postcards, I've gotten tired of them in photos. Oh, but translate those colors into b&w and, by gum, you've got some real drama.

While I agree that depending on the photo, a b&w conversion of a sunset might add more drama, and I can also see Barbara's point about being sick of seeing so many of them in postcards. But, I never think a b&w sunset pic is prettier than a color one. Sunsets are all about color, and if you take out the color, it doesn't seem right to call it a sunset.

An interesting point. Try to wipe out your knowledge that the b&w photo is really a sunset, then look at it again. Sometimes what we know can get in the way of what we see. (Did you know we're born not knowing how to see?)

well i think that the B/W version is more dramatic.....but if you don't know it is a sunset you wouldn't be able to tell (well i guess you could cuz of the sun at the bottom) but the light and clouds are IMO the best at sunset and sunrise......
