Default Color Blind: umm no title

I thought that I might not be able to find time to get involved with this week's challenge, but I made some time this morning (my toy has been feeling sadly neglected lately) and this is what I was able to come up with. Hope that I've managed to fall somewhere into the guidlines this week, but I may have gone a little overboard in finding the mix that I was happy with for the final image. Comments? Questions? ....Bueller? ....Bueller?

Oh dear, you cheated! However, the ends sure justified the means here. You rescued a picture, turning it from an ordinary photo into something quite striking. Was the work you did concentrated more on the flower or on the background?

Looking at the comparisons between those two shots- that grayscaled image tells a story that the color version shrouds from us. Good capture!

actually, I didn't really cheat all that much... I just applied a gradient map to the picture, simple purple I think, adjusted the blend with the fade gradient option til I got the flower to stand out from the background, yet still reveal some detail, converted to grayscale then used the auto levels. oh, and the border and signature too of course, but that aint all really cheatin is it? I have to say that my inspiration for this was "amarillis x-ray" by some one else here on the board that you all might recognize. The flower was the main focus of the project, while the background was just a happy accident. ummm... think that about sums it all up. thanks everyone

Well, then, you didn't really cheat at all.
