Default Color Blind- Canal

i was here on a bike trip (riding 12 miles down the delaware rive)
(12 miles is nothing though.....i did a 43 mile one lol)
and we woke up to this
gorgeous lighting and water and nice colors
i really like it
so i thought i'd try it with B/W

used calculations to convert....using red and blue channels blending mode set on lighten (cuz it was too dark with multiply)
and i think the opacity on something around 20-30 percent,

enjoy

This is a photo where the color is part of the magic, but you did a fine job of converting it, and you've also started using Calculations, thus adding another tool to your kit bag. But yes, I really prefer the color version. How about you?

ok i have a compositional question for anyone that cares to answer it......
would this picture be better or worse if i didn't have the stone wall in the foreground......or just had a little....

It's great just as it is. The wall is part of the S-curve that flows through the picture.

It's been interesting throughout this challenge to think about black and white, when it works for a subject, and comparing the pairs of images. Vito, your color version is a pretty photograph, but when I look at it my eye wanders back and forth between the misty distance and the lovely colors on the right. In the black and white version there is no confusion - my eye goes straight to the misty bright area. I think this adds to its "mysticality", or hauntingness.
