Default Color blind: sports car

The original:

This picture is unedited, only resized to fit on a website

Basic photoshop conversion:

Same image just converted with the basic "grayscale" command in photoshop. A very dull and dark conversion imho.

Optimized conversion:

Converted with photoshop with a using the channel mixer with an optimized setting:

Output channel: Gray
Red: +40
green: +34
Blue: +60
Constant: 0
Monochrome: yes

A much brighter and nicer result.

I like all three. The colors on that first one are vibrant, I love them. The basic B/w and the catered conversion are superb. I like your alterations the best. good job on the panning too!

I agree with everything huckle said. That panning is excellent! And the car is so sharp, with such wonderful colors! I do prefer your adjustments to what Photoshop did - lighter background, more striking. I'm not sure if I prefer the B&W or the color - that car is so bright, I think I almost prefer the color. But in the B&W version, the panning is a much nicer, more subdued background for the car. Either way, it's very nice!

I agree with the others here. One thing you might try in the final conversion is deepening the dark end of the scale. It seems to be missing some crisp black.
