Default Challenge: CONTRASTS (3/17/04 - 3/23/04)

No, this isn’t a repeat of the high-contrast b&w challenge. It’s a different sort of contrast: smooth and rough, big and small, sad and happy, weak and strong, and all the other things and ideas that oppose one another. A classic example is the father with work-roughened hands holding his tiny, smooth-skinned baby. Another might be the simplicity of a small block surrounded by marbles. If in Africa, you could be lucky enough to find a lioness inspecting a Jeep. Well, it’s a nice idea anyway.

Once you start searching for such contrasts, you’ll see examples all around you, but this doesn’t mean you can’t create the contrast yourself. Find it or set it up—it doesn’t matter—but make sure the contrast is a major element in the photograph. This is a free-for-all. Do whatever it takes to make your picture.

Weekly nag: start the subject line with “Contrasts”

Oh no, Barb’s still working from that an old calendar
CONTRASTS (3/24/04 - 3/30/04) I think she means 3/17/04 – 3/23/04

Or am I stuck in a time warp.

More importantly I thought I’d missed St. Paddy’s Day

Sigh. And I even scratched off all the days on the calendar up through yesterday. This has been a lifelong problem, and runs deeper than you know. Years ago I stood in a parking lot next to my car, keys gripped tightly as I tried to remember how old I was. Panic set in when I realized I didn't even know if I were young or old. Finally, I remembered the year I was born, but it was useless because I didn't know the current year. Eventually, I remembered I was 24.

Barb, I remembered I was 24, too. Only it was 11 years ago (ugh! How does that happen?!?!) At least you remembered which car was yours, and you had your keys. Losing my keys happens often, even with a big Pooh-Bear key chain attached - so I usually just leave them in my car. Pair that with the Accord being one of the most-stolen vehicles probably makes ME dumber than a box of rocks (but my cat loves me anyway)
