Default High School

Monkey 143:

My guess is, the person on the left of the photo is you when you were in high school. It is interesting how fashion changes. Today's fabrics have enabled designers to do more with fashion design than ever before.

Uncle back left. Grandma and grandpa middle. Mother and father on right. They are your paternal grandparents by the glasses

Grandma in the middle in red still gets a kick out of telling the story of how she pulled the winning raffle ticket for that cart full of groceries. And with that wonderful smile, that's got to be Monkey's mom on the left. 1967 or '68.

I agree with Toners. At first, I thought something was very wrong here, that I was looking at a younger Betsy on the left, but the clothing said it just couldn't be. It's got to be Mom standing there with that smile so familiar to us all now. I wish I could see her left hand and, in particular, her ring finger. Though the styles were different then, if we saw a similar outfit today, we'd say that this woman is pregnant. If so, we could be looking at Pre-Betsy.

Something tells me Grandma's sense of humor is non-stop.

I enjoyed hearing your guesses! Toners (again tho not the same Grandma as in the other pic, Toners) and Barb are the closest. These are my maternal grandparents in the middle and their children as the bookends. Left to right itís Mom and Dad (Stubna), Nana and Pop Pop (Bright), and Aunt Nancy and Uncle Jim (Bright). This is a very unfavorable photo of Jim (heís actually quite handsome and not nerdy, as this photo would have us believe). That smile was typical of Nanaís good nature. She passed away a couple months ago of old age. Pop Pop died a year earlier of heart trouble. He passed on four patents for the Bessemer process before he did, and each of us four grandkids has one of the token awards he was given. When he had three patents, three awards, and three grandkids, cousin David was born Ė and Nana told him he had to patent one more for David Ė and he did. This photo was taken in 1966, summer by the short sleeves, and, Barb, she wasnít pregnant Ė yet. Six months later she was, with my sister Barb. Four months after she had Barb she got pregnant with me. This was just the style and how the fabric was laying that made it look like it was maternity. Itís funny. Everyone else seems to think I look just like my dadís family. Thanks to all of you who think my avatar looks like I'm 62. What fun that was!

Good one, Betsy. I particularly like the business of the patents and the absolutely necessary fourth one!
