Default late 60's

The time period is mid to late 1960's. The grandfather is telling a telling a tall tell about the stick.

On a day at the park (with nature walking trail, complete with prop puppy), grandfather shows a dubious grandson the stick he used to spank Mommy with when she was little and misbehaved. Or perhaps he's measuring the height of all the grandkids. Really, it looks like he's handing the stick to Jr. for his first foray into fishing, the old-fashioned way, and only half-heartedly, perhaps from a bench a safe distance from actual water since no one is really dressed for fishing (or perhaps this just makes me plain wrong all the way around). My guess is nothing was caught but happiness and memories, or we'd be looking at a fish instead of a pole.

I think the girl dress is to long for the late 60's. How about late 50's?

I don't think its a stick or a fishn' pole. Thats a guywire on a telegraph pole and it has nothing to do with the story.

The man is a pool hustler, and he is working on his new "marks".

I didn't say he was a good pool hustler!

It's possible that the man (probably Daddy) is walking toward a camper or one of the "facilities" in a parkland.

Love the expression on the little guy looking up at Grandpa.

The developing date on the back of this photo is Nov. 11, 1948. The guy telling the story is not a family member but a very good family friend and a world class BSer. He could make up a story on the spot about anything. The little curly haired boy, 3 at the time, is my older brother, he'll be 60 this year. The girl with the dark hair is a neighbor and her family had horses (my mother found me sitting under one of them when I was 4 yrs old). The woman in the picture is my mom at that time age 39.

Suzan:

Good memories shared always brings a smile to my face. I hope this image and story did the same for you.
