Default DOF: Cherry Blossoms in DC

Well Barb, I just happened to be experimenting with DOF last week!

These are beautiful! I think I prefer the first one.

Very nice! The first picture is exactly what I see when I take my glasses off and stand under that cherry tree!

Wow, Puck! If I stood under the tree without my contacts, I'd probably not even see the blossoms

Can't find a way to disagree with the others, and I'll bet you can't either. Focused cherry blossoms are the winners. Even though the building is blurred, it's still recognizable and so adds meaning. When the blossoms are blurred, it takes studying them to figure out what they are.

The more I look at this (the first one), the more I like it - it has a very soft effect without being effeminate, washed-out, or weak.

too frilly or girly - some subtle pictures (esp those with pink and flowers) I've seen remind me too much of frou-frou. This has none of that. Is that to what your quote and question mark were referring, Barb?

Yup, that was the question. And I know what you mean now--rather like greeting-card photography, which is often way too soft and lacy.
