i think the lighting in the shot is contradicting with it portrait.....it is coming from the side instead of above....

It looks like a 45-degree angle to me as if it were a morning or late-afternoon shot.

or a well thought out indoor shot

i have noticed...you can make an indoor shot look like an outdoor shot (to and extent).....if you place certain colors in certain spots....it works....my "flowers with cool lighting" thread had one or two that i noticed looked like they had grass in the bg....but it was just a leaf in the bg that was blurred flat.....was rather cool

Call me an iconoclast (I think I know what that is...lol)...but
I much prefer your first one...sans the rotation of the second
image.

It seems to glow from within....

It is as if you, the photog, bent down and shot it about
waist level...

Two cents!
