I got a brand new box of cooties from the '50's from a local auction. I ended up selling them on ebay.

DH and I like to do that - you can get a table full of neat stuff for a quarter and sell it off for thousands. I live in rural PA and there are lots of goodies to be found. It takes lots of time, storage space, effort and frustration, but for one month a year, it's nice pocket change. And a great way to get some neat things for yourself. Of course, you can also spend $20 on something you can't give away (and end up donating to the Salvation Army).

What do they say, "One man's junk is another man's treasure"?

I just paid $16 (including shipping) for an antique "Cootie" game that was probably purchased at a yard sale for $0.25. After the pictures posted here I just had to have the original version of the game like the one I had as a kid. Another quote comes to mind, "A fool and his money are soon parted".

DH and I find ourselves buying on ebay, all those toys and things we got rid of years ago. Interesting phenomenon, nostalgia!

Nice gallery of "cooties"...

This will date me...but...do you remember when...

Someone at school had "cooties" and was ostracized?

That's not dating you! Two years ago my nephews thought Aunt Betsy would give them girl cooties. Thank heavens they were only in that phase for one holiday.
