Default DOF: Spring Blooms

These were the best of my DOF shots from Saturday. I took them at my mother-in-laws because her yard is blooming(and she does her yard work).

Vito, don't you have school tomorrow??? Just teasing. The first plant is a bleeding heart, the second is a lily of one-type-or-another, and the last are sword ferns. I didn't do the challenge completely right, but I felt like posting something. I'm still playing with the new Fuji, and playing around with the controls.

These are beautiful flowers! I especially like the third shot. What a nice, wide variety! Thanks for sharing.

Yes you did! People could post multiple shots of the same subject with changed DOF, but it wasn't any sort of requirement.

Here are my thoughts: Your first photo makes me think there might have been a slight breeze blowing or that you weren't using a tripod. I find that even the slightest breeze can upset the apple cart. Your second photo needs higher contrast, which shouldn't be at all difficult. If you can, see what happens if you increase contrast on just the flower, leaving the background unfocused and muted just as it is. The third shot is great. The ferns look as if they're holding a very important, very official meeting.

Yes, it looks as if the 4th flower is the one being focused on, but it still looks soft (on my monitor, anyway ).

ahh i see...it is a little soft....lol but i see where it was focused...and i'm guess it is soft cuz of compression and making it smaller....
