Now THERE'S a bunch of RED! I like both of them, giving a little edge to the rose. Both photos make use of extreme color contrast, the green being a near opposite to red. For those who've studied color, you know that red "advances," seeming to come toward the viewer, while green "retreats," seeming to go away. When used in composition, a warm color such as red will seem to advance even more drastically when placed against a cool color such as green. Reds, yellows, and oranges are wonderful colors for subjects because of this illusion.

What does the first leaf belong to? I like the red rose, sprinkle it with some water and take a picture with it covered in drops (I think there are some small ones already on it?) and it will be even better!

I echo monkey143's sentiments.

Vivid is the word!

Splendid, aladyforty!
