Rob,

Just left your part of the world this morning. Spent very hectic three days in the windy city. I'll be posting some shots I took while hurrying around.

Great detail in your shot. The Department of defense should be proud.

Aloha

Wow! There are so many circles there, I can't count them. I yield the circle throne to you. Nice shot.

Did you dodge the rain or get caught in one of our almost daily downpours?

I thought we had bucketfulls of rain in Hawaii but I think we've competition. My wife's and daughter's flight back to Hawaii yesterday was delayed for two hours because of the rain.

I'm now in Boston.

Cheers

Thx calr. I already had this image in my collection from another camera but returned today with my newer one and re-shot the group (there are 5 actual monuments) I didn't really notice the sheer volume of circles until looking among the files todecide if there was one I wanted to post. Kind of like the many flowers I've shot and didn't notice the insect until it appeared on my PC monitor!

There are enough circles cut into the stone that it made me start wondering exactly how it's done. It can't be old-fashioned chisels. Are there special drills for doing such work? And if there are, do they use templates of some sort to keep everything neat? I have to go ask my husband. He's a great repository of thoroughly useless but interesting facts.

I would suspect it may be a very sophisticated, programmable router.

Rob,

You just burst my bubble. I was envisioning a herd of Menehunes chipping away from dawn until dusk. Oh well, no more romanticism exists in the world today.
