If Vito bought jersey cloth that had not been used before...

Would that be....

New Jersey?

Very interesting shot. You always come up with something which to me seems very technically challenging. I was wondering though. Is it me or does that thumb look way to big for the rest of the hand? It's an interesting illusion to be sure.

I love this! I can taste the wine. Let's pretend it's a nice Merlot. I can feel the tannin on my tongue. Back atcha, Barbara!

Thanks, guys.

Puck, it's perspective that makes the thumb seem bigger than it should be. It's actually the way things look to our eyes, but somewhere in our brains, we tell ourselves this is okay because, if it's closer, it's supposed to appear bigger. The silhouette accentuates this illusion because there's very little distraction from it. I took a lot of shots, trying to get rid of it, but I had to give up. To eliminate it, I couldn't hold my hand in a position where it was reaching to pick up the glass. I would have had to hold my hand in a flat plane that was parallel to the camera lens. Can't do that and pick up a glass all at the same time. It ended up having to be a big-thumb day.:-)

Ah Barbara, it conjures up memories of:

Come, fill the Cup, and in the Fire of Spring
The Winter Garment of Repentance fling:
The Bird of Time has but a little way
To fly--and Lo! the Bird is on the Wing.

Ah! my Beloved, fill the Cup that clears
To-day of past Regrets and future Fears
To-morrow?--Why, To-morrow I may be
Myself with Yesterday's Sev'n Thousand Years

I like the way whatever the glass is sitting on blends in the the back wall. For me it gives the photo a continuous feel, the hand and glass have demension and all else is illusion.

Not Robert Frost - is it?

I'm inspiring poetry?!

Thank you, Suzan. The glass is sitting on cream-colored jersey cloth that extends behind the glass and then up and over a mat board that's been propped upright. This is why you see it as blending with the wall--because it's both floor AND wall.
