Hi the technique is quite easy. Use a tripod and a long exposure (B if your machine has it or 10-30 seconds). Use low ISO value, 100 is OK.

You have to make some guessing about aperture to avoid to have a too bright image if the night is not so dark due to urban lights and so on.

Then point to the place where you think it will happen and hope. Usually you have to take dozens of picture to hope to have some good result.

WOW! Great shot. I've tried this before with little success. Now that you have revealed the secret perhaps I'll have a chance next time!
