I think this tree is in Beaverton, OR. It's definitely in the Portland Metro area..
---apparently it's Hillsboro :-)

That big old oak tree looks familiar to me mactek. Is it perhaps located in Hillsboro, just off of U.S. 26 Schute Road exit to the north?

Yes, I think that's the place. It's been a year since I saw that tree and I don't live in the Portland area, so forgot the exact area... thanks for reminding me :-)

Well, that is really a coincidence! I work not 300 feet from that oak tree!

I've often thought about taking some pictures of it but in the last six months things are changing around it. The construction crews are preparing the site for yet another commercial building but they've created a stone circle around the tree, so it's obvious that the tree will remain.

BTW, for you or anyone else who knows the Portland area, if you know of a maple tree that is large like this oak tree, and is standing isolated in an open area, please tell me where it is. I need a large maple like that for a photo idea I had...

Then you should recognize this picture as well. It was taken from the same spot.

Well, mactek, I really like that shot of the American flag, but... I'm having problems remembering which building that is flying off of. I'll have to go take a look on Tuesday when I get back into the office...

I think it was on the other side of the highway from the parking lot near the oak.

Coincidence. Isn't it great?!

Mactek, I'm so glad you've joined us. Your American flag picture had me sitting here absolutely still, not even a toe wiggling. You've one heck of an eye for composition, and you're highly creative.

I love coincidence too. It happens much too often to be purely coincidental. :-)
