Vito,

Language is also an art. Fortunately (or unfortunately) we are set apart not only by our style of dressing, our abilities, our jobs, our religions, our interests, etc. but also the way we speak. We each have many, many trademarks. I love Barbara's elocution. :-)

LOL - Vito, it really helps to read the dictionary - just a page or two here and there when you're bored... if you find a cool word, share it - use it - make it your own. It's fun! (I'm such a nerd!) :-)

That's it, Vito! Get off the @%&* (did she really say that?) computer! Start reading real books with real words. Do as Betsy says: learn a new word a day. Consider this: words are symbols of entire concepts, so whenever you learn a new word, you've gained more than just that word: you've gained understanding.

(Exits stage left, grumbling and mumbling to self.)

I'll start (since I already have! And so sorry to hijack the pistachio thread!):

Elocution:

Definition:

Code:
elocution:

1. Utterance by speech.
2. Oratorical delivery the graces of intonation, gesture, etc; style or manner of speaking or reading in public as clear impression.

3. Suitable and impressive writing or style; eloquent diction
Vito, you're part of our conversation, not the butt of a joke. Looking back on this thread, tho, it appears we might have been harsh on you. I hope you don't feel beat up. We love you! And we love words! So it's only natural for us to play with you both! Somebody else canchoose and define and teach us alltomorrow's word. :-)

Getting back to the subject, then:

Nutty, nut house, hard nut to crack, soup to nuts, put in a nutshell, nut of a problem, and the grand old euphemism, nuts!

How're you doing, Ferny? Have you decided this whole business is hanging by just a thread, unfortunately your thread?

No fair, Betsy. That should have been Ferny's line.

Spoken so eloquently, and with just the right amount of assiduousness.:-)
